Coffee farming began more than 40 years ago, with experiences gained on a farm belonging to a German family in southern Chiapas. With enthusiasm and a desire for improvement, coffee farming was brought to the highlands of Chiapas (Tenejapa). Over time, good practices were improved until specialty coffees with scores over 85 were achieved.

This 100 Women edition honors the Nantik community of indigenous women who guard and preserve the cultural traditions of the region. This group of 100 women are part of a program that seeks self-sufficiency, entrepreneurship, and financial management of the lands they now manage.

They produce, harvest, and market this coffee every year, doing so with complete dedication, but mainly with the love they have for their land and their family. The mission of this special edition is to offer complete traceability for these remarkable women; a reward for their high-quality coffee and unique flavor and aroma characteristics.

In the community of Chimhucum, Chiapas, we discovered a variety of sarchimor, bourbon, and caturra cultivated under shade, surrounded by the natural beauty of fruit trees. In the trees, we heard the howling of monkeys; these beautiful animals brighten the day and accompany us during the harvest. They play an important role in the balance of the local ecosystem, pollinating along their way as they drop the seeds of the fruits they eat.
The fruit trees that shade the coffee plants, along with the characteristics of the region—altitude, humidity, and soil type—produce one of the most successful and fruity coffee beans. This coffee is a semi-washed variety harvested at an altitude of 1,750 meters above sea level, which can be appreciated in the bean size.
